Tampa Bay – The anticipation was overwhelming, a championship game that featured Patrick Mahomes vs Tom Brady. Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers last year in Miami to win Super Bowl LIV. This year he would face Brady who already had six Super Bowl wins under his belt. Many thought this would be the game for the history books.
Unfortunately, it was a blowout that no one saw coming. Brandy and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers dominated from start to finish. The Buccaneers beat the Chiefs 31-9 to record their second Super Bowl victory for the franchise in their own stadium. An unbelievable performance by Brady who at 43 won his seventh Super Bowl.
In his first year with Tampa Bay Brady connected with longtime friend and Tight End Rob Gronkowski for two touchdown passes for 8 and 17 yards. He went 21-for29 for 201 yards and three touchdowns. Brady also earned his fifth Super Bowl MVP and recored his 10th Super Bowl appearance.
The Buccaneers defense stole the show, they were unstoppable from the start. Kansas City kicked only three field goals and were unable to move the ball. Mahomes who was dealing with “turf toe” never found a good rhythm. He threw two interceptions and was unable to throw a single touchdown. Mahomes did not play his best football.
But the GOAT did and for that he still remains the best quarterback to ever play the game. Brady proved hard work pays off. His grueling schedule which starts at 5am and ends well in the evening has been the same routine he used since his first Super Bowl win in 2002. Brady says he will return next year.
Notes – Patrick Mahomes is schedule for surgery this week for his turf toe which bothered him most of the season. He is expected to miss most of the offseason and should return on time for training camp.
