The Warriors made their 7th lineup change of the season, starting De’Anthony Melton alongside Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, and Trayce Jackson-Davis. After an embarrassing loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State rebounded with a 127-116 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Curry led the charge with 36 points, while the Thunder were dealt a blow when Chet Holmgren was forced to leave the game with a right hip injury and did not return. Green recorded 11 rebounds, Melton contributed 19 points, Wiggins added 18 points, and Jonathan Kuminga came off the bench to score 20 points.
Golden State has had a solid start to the season, especially after facing tough competition on their first road trip. They secured wins over the Boston Celtics and OKC—both strong teams to begin the season—though they were handed their worst loss by the undefeated Cleveland Cavaliers, who sit at 11-0.
The Warriors improved to 6-1 on the road this season, finishing their five-game road trip with a 4-1 record. Dating back to last season, Golden State has won 23 of their last 28 games on the road. The Warriors completed a three-game stretch in which all three of their opponents had a winning percentage of at least 87.5%, winning two of three against the Celtics (.875), Cavaliers (1.000), and Thunder (.889).
Per the Elias Sports Bureau, it’s only the second time a team has faced three consecutive teams with a winning percentage of 87.5% or better, and the first time the team has won at least two of the three. The only other instance was the New York Knicks in a three-game stretch from Dec. 18-21, 1963.
Golden State is now 6-0 when scoring at least 120 points this season. The Warriors are 5-0 this season when outrebounding the opposition (46-41), 3-0 when shooting at least 50% from the field this season (50.6% tonight), and 4-0 when hitting at least 20 threes (21 made 3-pointers).
Up Next: The Warriors return home to host the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, November 12, at 7 p.m.
