Warriors Kick Off 2024-2025 Season with Revamped Roster

San Francisco – The new-look Golden State Warriors kicked off media day with some fresh faces on the roster. After Klay Thompson’s departure this offseason, the Warriors moved quickly to fill the shooting guard position by adding veterans Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson.

Excitement for the upcoming season is high, especially for Olympic Gold Medalist Stephen Curry, who played for Team USA over the summer. Head coach Steve Kerr also witnessed Curry’s performance firsthand, serving as the head coach for Team USA.

“I’m really excited. I just feel good about the energy in the building, the talent,” Kerr shared in his press conference last Thursday. “We’ve added some good players. Our younger players are making big strides, and our veterans are fired up. Wiggs [Andrew Wiggins] looks fantastic. Steph and Draymond are here and ready to roll. There’s definitely a good vibe.

I think what we need to figure out are the combinations. We’ve got a lot of good players. You could argue we have 12 or 13 guys who could be in the rotation, so we need to determine how to put those groups together, but I’m confident we’ll make it work.”

Hield, an eight-year veteran, is expected to complement Curry well and is eager to join a team with such high energy.

Kevon Looney discussed his efforts to improve his game during the offseason, making key adjustments to increase his time on the court. Last season, Looney faced challenges that led to him being benched more often than he would have liked, prompting him to refine his approach. Losing his starting position for several games was a tough blow, but it motivated him to work even harder on his game.

“I know what kept me off the floor in big situations, and I want to make it,” said Looney. Take it to the point where my offense is the reason I can’t be in the game. I want to try my best to try to be on the floor as much as possible. And being able to shoot the ball and be able to score is a big thing in the NBA. And if you can’t play if you can’t do that. I’m just trying to improve and extend my career as long as possible.”

Gary Payton II discussed his off-season workouts and what he wants to improve for the upcoming season. He also talked about Thompson’s absence.
