Stephen Curry Returns, George Kittle Makes Debut at American Century Golf Tournament

Lake Tahoe – American Century brings out the stars for its 2025 Golf Tournament, welcoming back 2023 champion Stephen Curry, who returns after missing last year’s event. Joining the spotlight is 49ers tight end George Kittle, making his tournament debut.

Excited for this year’s tournament, Stephen Curry showed up ready, participating in both practice days this week. As practice winds down, Curry has put in extra time alongside his brother, Seth Curry, after the two completed 18 holes today. Both were later seen on the putting green for hours, fine-tuning their game ahead of competing as a family, alongside their father Dell Curry.

“The energy out here is ridiculous, said Curry to the media after practice. “I’m happy to be back with a lot of great players that we all know.

I’m coming tomorrow to enjoy the experience. The course is great. I don’t know about my game, but we’ll find out, compete and keep it moving.”

Curry missed last year’s tournament for good reason; he was in Paris representing Team USA, where he played phenomenal basketball. Having competed in this tournament before, Curry is known for always making time for his fans. The event has grown significantly over the years and is expected to be a complete sellout this weekend in South Lake Tahoe.

Fan favorite Charles Barkley returns to the tournament looking noticeably slimmer and ready to compete at a higher level. He was out on the course practicing today, appearing focused and serious about improving his technique. While he hasn’t placed high in past tournaments, this year offers a fresh opportunity to change that.

While not a professional golfer, George Kittle is trading his cleats for clubs as he steps onto the course to compete against some of the best athletes in sports. The tournament regularly draws top NFL talent, including Trevor Lawrence, Travis and Jason Kelce, NFL MVP Josh Allen, and Kittle’s teammate Kyle Juszczyk. The event also welcomes former NFL greats like Jerome Bettis, Derek Carr (retired), Brian Urlacher, and Marcus Allen.

“I love being here, this is the best venue ever, said Hall of Famer Allen. “American Century Championship does an amazing job, NBC does an amazing job, Tahoe itself, what can you say about how beautiful it is?”

The tournament, sponsored by American Century Investments, tees off Friday morning and will run for three days to determine a winner, with a $750,000 purse on the line. Thirty teams, paired in groups of three, will compete, with the first group set to tee off at 7:54 a.m.
