Seattle – The road to the Super Bowl is rarely easy, but the Seattle Seahawks made their postseason run look remarkably composed. Seattle opened the playoffs with a dominant 41–6 dismantling of the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round, then followed it up with a poised 31–27 victory over the Los Angeles Rams to punch its ticket to the Super Bowl.
The Seahawks will now face the New England Patriots in a clash of the NFL’s elite. Both teams finished the regular season with identical 14–3 records, setting the stage for a highly anticipated championship showdown at Levi’s Stadium that pits two of the league’s most complete rosters against one another.
Seattle set the tone early against Los Angeles and never looked back. The Seahawks wasted no time on their opening possession, marching down the field before Kenneth Walker powered in a 2-yard touchdown run to give Seattle a 7–0 lead. The fast start energized the crowd and underscored a team firing on all cylinders, combining physicality, execution and balance on both sides of the ball.
Quarterback Sam Darnold delivered one of his most impressive performances of the postseason, efficiently guiding the Seahawks’ offense with poise and precision. Darnold completed 25 of 36 passes for 346 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, spreading the ball to multiple targets and keeping the Rams’ defense off balance throughout the night. He connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jake Bobo and Cooper Kupp for scores, showcasing the depth and versatility of Seattle’s passing attack.
Darnold’s command of the offense and mistake-free play allowed Seattle to control the tempo, sustain long drives and capitalize on scoring opportunities when they arose.
The Rams attempted to stay within striking distance, but a critical special teams error swung momentum firmly in Seattle’s favor. Midway through the game, Michael Dickson launched a 55-yard punt that Xavier Smith mishandled while retreating. Smith muffed the ball, and Dareke Young recovered it at the Rams’ 17-yard line, giving the Seahawks a short field. Darnold quickly took advantage, finding Jake Bobo for a 17-yard touchdown pass, Bobo’s fourth career score, to extend Seattle’s lead.
Special teams miscues have plagued Los Angeles throughout the season, and the turnover served as another costly reminder. The Rams dismissed special teams coordinator Chase Blackburn in December amid ongoing inconsistencies, and the breakdown proved pivotal in a game with Super Bowl implications.
Los Angeles mounted a push in the third quarter, scoring twice to narrow the deficit and briefly inject drama into the contest. However, the Rams were unable to fully erase the gap. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter, as Seattle leaned on disciplined execution and smart clock management to protect its lead and seal the victory.
When the clock ran out of time, the Seahawks had secured a 31–27 win, and with it, a return to the Super Bowl. Now, Seattle turns its attention to New England, where a championship awaits and the opportunity to cap a dominant postseason run on the sport’s biggest stage.
